International Wine Center was founded in 1982 as a sister operation to a wine-focused restaurant called “Tastings,” to introduce customers to the pleasures of wine. Restaurant patrons frequently attended the school’s wine classes, wine tastings and weekly wine club, and then stayed to dine. In 1984, Ewing-Mulligan joined IWC as director. Eventually, the restaurant closed but the wine school continued under Ewing-Mulligan’s leadership, with the new direction and changed emphasis. Today, Ewing-Mulligan heads a highly talented faculty of wine experts, which includes the school’s director, Linda Lawry, and an accomplished group of other instructors with advanced wine credentials.
